Project Overview

Divine salon is a modern, sophisticated hair salon located in rural Audubon, Iowa. Although located in a rural community, stepping into Divine feels like you’re transported somewhere much more populated. This to say however, Shelby’s down-to-earth personality and intentional care for you as a client brings you right back to that small town charm. Shelby needed an updated logo and brand as her business was evolving and growing out of her previous design style. The icon is conceptual and represents abstract scissors, a “D” for Divine, and a pearl inside of a shell: an ode to discovering something divine when least expecting it. The branding has a combination of sharp angles and soft curves throughout to represent Shelby’s salon being calm, inspiring, and intentional as well as high-end and professional. We created a variety of secondary logos and brand marks as well as custom illustrated icons of items you will find in and around Divine salon. We also helped Shelby create taglines that properly reflect her salon including, “you, my dear, are Divine”; “time for a good hair day”; “small town charm, big city technique”; “color, cuts, good vibes”; and “leave feeling calm, refreshed, divine”.

Inspiration for this project was drawn from the interiors of Divine; the experience you get when going into Divine whether for retail, salon, or spa purposes; the feeling of intentionality; and natural elements such as florals and shadows.

Shelby has been committed to her community and bringing a high-end salon and experience to her small town. People leave Divine feeling calm, refreshed, inspired, and even Divine, as I mentioned above! It was a joy to be able to create a brand that Shelby can feel proud of and that will serve her and her business as it evolves.
